This is the first book in a series of works dedicated to teaching a technical approach to Flamenco Guitar through the use of progressive studies. The studies in the first book are designed for the student with a basic knowledge of the guitar, who has taken some initial steps in Flamenco Technique and for whom hand positions and strokes are now automatic. Each study is a short but complete piece of music incorporating certain elements of the flamenco style, so that as the student practices the piece, he or she can begin to absorb and learn the sounds and rhythms of flamenco. Some of the studies contain melodies from traditional flamenco songs such as "campanilleros" or "garrotin" which should further the student's knowledge of flamenco. Includes CD.
