Giuseppe Rabboni (1800-1856) was an outstanding Italian flutist, composer, and teacher. He developed these studies in his drive to constantly improve his technique. The Italian school of flute playing had a very distinct method which was based on a sound virtuoso technique, coupled with a singing voice, gained by close association with Italian opera. In fact, Rabboni's studies often use phrases found in Rossini operas. These studies are technically demanding, with particular emphasis on finger control and evenness of sound, each one emphasizing a specific discipline.
